Ingredients

  • 10-12 fresh zucchini flowers (squash blossoms)
  • β…“ cup all-purpose flour
  • ΒΌ tsp salt
  • 3 oz cold water (or sparkling water for extra crispiness)
  • 1 tsp milk (optional)
  • Olive oil (for frying)

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Frying pan
  • 1 Tongs
  • Paper towels – as needed

Method

  1. Clean the Zucchini Flowers

Gently open each zucchini flower and remove the pistil inside. Rinse lightly under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Handle carefully to avoid tearing.
  2. Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add cold water (or sparkling water) and whisk until smooth. Add milk if using. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat the Oil

Pour olive oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
  4. Dip the Flowers

Dip each zucchini flower into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Let excess batter drip off.
  5. Fry Until Golden

Carefully place the coated flowers into hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain & Serve

Remove fried flowers and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
